MLB Same Game Parlay Bets for Thursday 6/6/24

Chicago Cubs at Cincinnati Reds

Javier Assad Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-154)
Hunter Greene to Record 6+ Strikeouts (-310)
Jake Fraley to Record a Hit (-195)

Combined Odds: +223

Through 12 starts for the Chicago Cubs this season, Javier Assad is producing a 4.11 SIERA and 4.02 xFIP while his 9.9% walk rate can get him into trouble at times. Even though Assad has issues with walking batters and owns just a 6.2% swinging strike rate, the Cincinnati Reds have the 2nd-highest strikeout rate (26.7%) and 13th-lowest walk rate (8.2%) versus right-handed pitching.

Despite Assad being in the 15th percentile in chase rate (24.1%) and 7th percentile in whiff rate (18.1%), he is in the 56th percentile in strikeout rate (23.2%), and he's tallied seven-plus Ks in three of his last four starts. As long as Assad can avoid walking a handful of hitters, he should have a decent shot at five-plus strikeouts.

On the other hand, Hunter Greene remains an exciting strikeout pitcher who averages 97.7 MPH on his fastball. While Greene is registering a career-low 25.9% strikeout rate, he is logging career-best marks in flyball rate (46.6%), hard-hit rate (34.6%), and barrel rate (4.5%).

Aside from the Cubs posting the seventh-highest strikeout rate (24.3%) against right-handed pitchers, Greene has racked up six-plus Ks in eight of his 12 starts in 2024. The fact Greene has gone six-plus innings in four straight outings should allow him to pitch deep enough into Thursday's contest to reach six-plus strikeouts.

Assad has done well to limit hits this year, but he's given up five hits in back-to-back starts. Meanwhile, Jake Fraley has recorded at least one hit in nine of his last 10 appearances.

Colorado Rockies at St. Louis Cardinals

Sonny Gray Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-152)
Nolan Gorman to Record a Hit (-165)
First 5 Innings Result: St. Louis Cardinals (-148)

Combined Odds: +267

At the moment, Sonny Gray has been one of the best pitchers in baseball, producing an elite 2.62 SIERA and 2.49 xFIP across 10 starts for the St. Louis Cardinals. The experienced right-handed hurler is also in the 79th percentile in whiff rate (29.8%) and 95th percentile in strikeout rate (33.5%) ahead of a home matchup versus the Colorado Rockies.

On the season, the Rockies are posting the fourth-highest strikeout rate (25.8%), second-lowest wRC+ (80), and seventh-lowest ISO (.132) when facing right-handed pitching. Away from Coors Field, Colorado is tallying the fifth-highest strikeout rate (25.5%), fourth-lowest wOBA (.288), fourth-lowest wRC+ (86), and ninth-lowest ISO (.129).

The Rockies are expected to have Cal Quantrill make his 13th start of the campaign, and he's given up contact to both sides of the plate. With Nolan Gorman seeing the baseball well in recent performances, we'll take the lefty bat to record a hit in this SGP.

Gorman has tallied a hit in nine of his last 12 contests -- with multiple hits in six of the games and nine extra-base hits in that span. With the Cardinals having a massive pitching advantage along with their offense performing better as of late, we'll back them to secure a lead in the first five innings.

St. Louis has gone 14-7 in their last 21 games, and they are notching the eight-highest wOBA (.318), seventh-highest wRC+ (109), and fifth-highest ISO (.189) in the last 14 days. When Quantrill exits the game, the Rockies' bullpen is logging the worst SIERA (4.51), second-worst xFIP (4.51), worst WHIP (1.59), and the second-lowest strikeout rate (18.0%).

Boston Red Sox at Chicago White Sox

Rafael Devers to Record 2+ Total Bases (-135)
Tyler O'Neill to Record an RBI (+115)

Combined Odds: +253

The Chicago White Sox are going to be trotting out Jake Woodford to make his second start of the season on Thursday, putting the Boston Red Sox in a prime spot to score a decent amount of runs. In Woodford's first start, he surrendered three earned runs and five hits in 4.1 innings against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Although it's a small sample from this year, Woodford permitted a 42.9% flyball rate and 64.3% hard-hit rate in his season debut. Those aren't ideal metrics against a Red Sox team that boasts the 7th-highest wOBA (.317), 11th-highest wRC+ (101), and fourth-highest ISO (.175) versus right-handed pitchers.

One player who has been raking against right-handed pitching this season is Rafael Devers. Devers is sporting a .446 wOBA, .370 ISO, and 188 wRC+ with the platoon advantage, and he's achieved two-plus bases in three of his last five games.

With winds blowing out at Guaranteed Rate Field, Devers is being given +240 odds to hit a home run.

Tyler O'Neill recently made his return from the injured list, tallying two hits, an RBI, and a run scored in four plate appearances in his first game back. Despite logging a 105 wRC+ versus right-handed pitching, O'Neill is hitting the ball hard in the split to the tune of a .232 ISO and 49.3% flyball rate. He should have RBI chances in this one.
