The 2023 Miami Marlins snagged a Wild Card entry to the playoffs, their second playoff appearance as a franchise since their 2003 World Series title run. They caught a quick exit when they lost a two-game series to the red-hot Philadelphia Phillies, but Miami will be looking to build on that solid campaign when they take the field in 2024.

Per the World Series odds at FanDuel Sportsbook, what are the Miami Marlins odds to win the World Series this season?

The Miami Marlins are listed at +9000 to win the World Series, which ranks as the 23rd-best odds.

Let's take a look at what we can expect from the Marlins in 2024.

Miami Marlins Analysis

The Marlins will be without stud pitcher Sandy Alcantara for the year as he recovers from Tommy John surgery, but they still have a strong young group of starters to rely upon on the mound.

Jesus Luzardo has been solid since coming over from the Oakland Athletics, Braxton Garrett has flashed some big-time stuff (5.38 K/BB, 5th-best in MLB), and Edward Cabrera (who had a rocky 2023 season) flashed exciting upside in 2022.

And, of course, all eyes will be on promising 20-year-old hurler Eury Perez.

The up-and-coming Perez posted an exciting 3.94 Skill-Interactive ERA (SIERA) at 19 years old last year while switching between the majors and minors. When paired with Perez's 10.6 strikeouts per 9 innings, it's fair to hope that he could join the ranks of the game's elite aces this year. If he does, it would go a long way toward the Marlins getting into the postseason once again.

The real question mark for Miami is the offense. Even with Jorge Soler launching 36 homers a year ago, the Fish still finished with the fifth-fewest runs (666) in the majors. Now Soler is with the San Francisco Giants, leaving the team with some real question marks at the plate.

The 2023 Marlins lacked power outside of Soler's bat, and they were unable to fully capitalize on Luis Arraez's league-best .354 batting average. This year's team will certainly be hoping Jazz Chisholm can make it through the season healthy, and they could also find power from infielders Josh Bell and Jake Burger. Strong slugging seasons from those guys -- or even a complete 180 from recent signee Tim Anderson -- could help turn around Miami's stale offense.

Miami's baserunners made it home at the fourth-worst rate (28%) in the league. A regression to league-average (31%) levels could make them a competitive team throughout the season -- as long as the pitching can spearhead this squad.

If Miami can somehow churn out an above-average offense, they will be a threat to make the postseason, and once you get in, you never know.
