MAKANI (5) is a three-year-old colt by Majestic Son on debut for Sam Payne. Has looked well above average in winning four of five trials leading into this. He'll be wound up and could kick off with a win. CHAMPERS PAT (1) came from this barrier and went close when finishing runner-up at Rangiora at her first racetrack appearance. Better for the experience and could go one better. NOBILO (7) was let down by manners last start but will be fitter for three starts since a spell and can measure up if he gets it right. HE'S MY CREATION (2) draws well and has shown enough at the trials to be a factor on debut.
