Verdict

ZORMELLA (5) has been well supported in all of her 3 starts this prep, and after a couple of good but unplaced efforts at Ellerslie, she was only beaten by a nose at Pukekohe 3 weeks ago. She is poised to go one better in this field. ROCTAVE (7) fought hard and finished a game fourth fresh up at Te Aroha 18 days ago when needing the hit-out. The pole position will suit him here, and if he doesn't need this run as well, then he should figure in the top 3. PROCUL BOY (3) ran on too late fresh up at Tauherenikau 4 weeks ago, and he will relish getting straight out over a mile second up. He is a very promising gelding who has only had 5 career starts for a 6-year-old gelding. Each way claims in this. ONE BOLD GIGOLO (4) was a beaten favourite at Waverley 15 days ago, when peaking on his run late. He was only beaten by a neck fresh up at Trentham before that, and can make amends here. Follow your money. COULTHARD (6) will be peaking third up, and is worth including in all combos.

Horse Racing Basic Terms

Main Track Only

A horse entered for main track only (MTO) is one hoping the weather forecast or track conditions will move the race off the turf course and onto the main track. They are scratched the morning of the race if the conditions stay dry.

Also Eligible

A horse that is entered but does not draw into the body of the field due to too many entries, and thus is not permitted to start unless there are enough scratches to shrink the field size.

Fast

A dry dirt track that is typically an ideal racing surface.
