WATERMELON SUGAR (7) was heavily backed fresh up and finished fourth at Ellerslie just over 3 weeks ago. She strips fitter, and remains at the 6f. With the right run, she is the one to beat for us. FURSTON (13) was sent out as favourite on debut at Hawera, and just peaked on his run late, finishing fourth, less than 2 lengths from the winner. He cops a tough gate this time, but he will be improved with his recent experience, and his first win is not far away. Follow your money. VALSOEUR (9) makes her debut from a nasty gate off the back of a recent handy trial win. If she starts, then she will be among the hardest to beat. Follow the money trail. EARLICHEER (18) has needed time to mature, and his fresh-up effort for second at Pukekohe has been is best effort yet. He maps to secure a cosy run from a good gate, and he is set to go one better. THE GIGGLER (12) makes her debut, and she is another with each-way claims if she lines up from her bad draw.
