His latest fifth at Mt Gambier was plain on face value, but he had been beaten just under two lengths at Strathalbyn the run prior and handles soft ground well enough to get his chance. TOGETHERFOREVER (11) is the main danger after working home into fourth at Balaklava and she brings a useful wet-track profile, plus a claim that helps her at the weights. SAFE BET (1) has not fired in two runs this campaign, yet he is third-up, proven around 7f and comes through a BM68 at Penola, so a sharper effort would not surprise. OUI OUI MA CHERIE (3) is fitter second-up after Saturday company at Morphettville and her track-and-trip record keeps her firmly in the mix, though the soft ground is the reservation.
