CHRISTMAS (7) turned in a decent effort last start to finish second over the twigs, which is where he has done most of his recent racing. The most recent flat run was a 4.5-length fifth in BM70 grade and Bendigo, a repeat of which should be good enough to win this. STARRY DESERT (2) did little and finished 16 lengths from the winner in ninth over 1 ¼m at Murtoa last start but wasn't beaten far the two prior and can feature if he rediscovers that form. IRLANDAIS (6) turned in a decent effort last start to finish second over 1 ¼m at Naracoorte, an improvement on recent runs and will relish the quality of rivals here. OCTAHEDRON (5) ran the best race of the prep last start and gets the chance to go on with it.
