The Classic is competitive. HOLYMANZ (1) peaks off a dead-heat win in the Werribee Cup. He won this race last year carrying a half kilo less and is going better into this. He's been kept up to the mark with a jumpout, and the premier stable will have him spot on. PRECIOUS CHARM (3) shared the Werribee win and has been close up in Stakes grade since. Hits this at peak with 55kgs on her back and is on an 8-day return. A serious player. ST LAWRENCE (2) just missed in the same contest. He's likely to drift back from the inside barrier and will need the splits to come. If they do, he's a decent chance to go one better. OPENING ADDRESS (7) was disappointing and vet cleared at Cranbourne. Ran a strong figure winning at Caulfield prior, and tumbles in weight. Maps for the run of the race and has to be considered. OCEAN BEYOND (9) hasn't won for a long while but is on the quick back up off a narrow defeat in the Woodford Cup. Has a low barrier and don't underestimate.
