Verdict

BIG BOY BOWIE (1) enjoyed a nice trail behind the leading division then lengthened impressively to be beaten just over a length on debut last start over 5f at The Heath. Beautifully placed back in a country maiden over an extra 1f. Should be breaking through. POWERING AWAY (5) returned from a 20-week spell and made it four minor placings from as many career runs when an eye-catching second over 5 ½f at Mildura last time out. Has a terrible gate to contend with but if things go right he should be in the finish again. APACHE SUNRISE (8) improved out of sight when second-up recently, holding on well for third over 5 ½f at Stawell. Not drawn the best but based on the last effort she is a top three contender. PREMIUM RETURN (6) closed in good style on debut last start over 5f at The Heath. Should go well out to this trip. PACKERS JOURNEY (11) wasn't far away last time out at Bendigo and from a better gate today she is worth considering.
