Verdict

The Grand National may be the 'feature' but I daresay most punters are looking forward to this clash in the Crisp Steeple even more. STERN IDOL (1) is seeking a record fourth win in this race having won by 25L, 10L and 15L in his three victories. Ignore the flat run last time but SING FOR PEACE (2) did clearly have Stern Idol's measure here over 2 ?m in the Australian Chase prior. Stern Idol had to lug a whopping 169lbs there and now meets Sing For Peace 21lbs better off at the weights. Sing For Peace is very good but we'll back Stern Idol to turn the tables under these conditions in what could be his farewell race. HIT THE ROAD JACK (4) is an interesting threat on resumption. He hasn't raced since finishing second in the Grand Annual over 3 ?m at The Bool. Stern Idol has typically had his measure over this sort of trip but he's right in the mix. MR LINCOLN (5) best of the rest along with THE MIGHTY SPAR (3).
