Verdict

Competitive and it was hard to miss the run of SILENT SHARES (1) last time at Flemington, dragged right back to last before rattling home into a narrow third. She's certainly more capable of holding a spot albeit Flemington probably does suit better. GLASGOW LASS (5) is an interesting one. She was much better off a short break here last time, just her second run for the Laurie yard. She got home well off a strong pace behind Custom and now to 7f will suit much better. BUTTERNUT PRINCESS (3) ran on quite well behind Tennessee Bound first up and did have stakes form this trip last campaign, she has each way claims. Not knocking MISSAPPREHEND (14) who is lightly raced and gets in very well but she does probably need to improve a touch to be winning which is entirely feasible. MYSTERY 'N' DRAMA (7) also comes through the Custom race and should improve quickly up in trip with a run under the belt.

Horse Racing Basic Terms

Rabbit

Also known as a pacemaker; this is a horse with no expected chance of winning but is used to prompt a quick pace on the front end of the race to the benefit of a stablemate who is a closer.

Claiming Race

A race in which horses are entered for a certain price, or claiming tag, which is also their sales price. An owner can claim any horse entered for the tag before the race begins, and owns them as soon as the gates open.

Blinkers

A hood worn on a horse’s head to limit side vision, which can improve concentration. Blinkers are added or removed to relax a horse or give it more focus.
