Over to the girls now and ANGELS FURY (6) is a filly by Harry Angel on debut for the Maher yard who debuts. She looked very sharp winning a recent jump out by a big space and looks to have plenty of ability. No surprise to see support for her, she can stake her Blue Diamond claim. JADZIA (10) is a filly by Ole Kirk on debut for the Grahame Begg yard. She moved well to win a recent trial and should be hard to hold out late. STREISAND (1) has just found one better in both runs to date, edged out by Eurocanto on debut who we'll get a guide to in the race earlier. She's got speed and can give a sight here. LA GITANA (11) is a filly by Home Affaird on debut for the Hayes yard who has won a jumpout and was a $400,000 purchase. Watch the market. GHANA'S AKAN (3) was well backed on debut and ran a solid race with improvement to come.

Claiming Race

A race in which horses are entered for a certain price, or claiming tag, which is also their sales price. An owner can claim any horse entered for the tag before the race begins, and owns them as soon as the gates open.

Also known as a pacemaker; this is a horse with no expected chance of winning but is used to prompt a quick pace on the front end of the race to the benefit of a stablemate who is a closer.
