Verdict

TRES MAGNIFIQUE (10) won't know herself in this grade given the races she was tested in after the nice debut win. After a luckless fifth at Caulfield on Guineas Day she started $3.90 in a Listed race at Moonee Valley, when again a little stiff, and had probably had enough by the time she got to the Red Roses. She's trialled up like a horse who will contest better races than this later in the prep. Not to the same extent, but STATICE (12) is another down in grade and the draw gives her the chance to take up her favoured on-pace role without doing too much work. MINE ALL MINE (8) is across from SA for the first-up run and a couple of nice recent trials suggest he can play a role from a good draw. EPIC CENTRE (1) was a little plain last start in 66 grade, but the previous two in similar class were efforts that would make him competitive here. THUNDER PARK (5) ran an improved race last start when leading and should be elevated if it's an advantage to be on-speed.

Resuming after a five months break. Finished off last preparation 13th of 16 at Flemington in the G3 Red Roses November 6 over 5 ½f, 6 len behind Point Barrow with 121lbs at $20. At her first start won by neck Ballarat 3yo Mdn-Sw September 19 over 5f defeating Ludlum carrying 123lbs at $4.40. Had little luck in some much stronger races than this last prep, so gets chance to break through.

Third-up today. Resuming did the work up front then tired second last of 10 at Cranbourne Bm66 on February 27 over 6f, 5.5 len behind Markdel carrying 123lbs at $13. Second run from a spell led to the turn then faded second last of 8 at Caulfield Heath Bm66 on March 18 over 6f, 4.5 len behind Eternal with 122lbs at $20. This easier than recent efforts and looks one of the chief contenders.
