Verdict

ASK YOUR MOTHER (1) is building to a win, finishing third at Pakenham over 7f most recently. Admittedly, he was beaten a long way then, but was close-up at the first run back and will be fitter and ready to go at 1m third-up. Draws beautifully, too. SPIETATA (4) is resuming from a spell of a year and having his first run for the Hanna Powell yard. Was in the placings when first-up from a spell last campaign at Cranbourne over 1m and will be fitter for a minor placing in a recent Kilmore trial. ADAMANA (9) was well-backed first up and not beaten too far, so might be worth another go with added fitness up to 1m. BELLE FLAMME (11) could only manage fourth at her latest appearance over 7 ¼f at Kilmore, but she got a long way back and suited this trip. KOKONDA (6) finished seventh over 7f at Cranbourne last time following a minor placing on debut the run before. Gets the chance to settle closer from the draw here, which could prove crucial.

Resuming from a lengthy break. Only one run when raced on speed throughout when 3rd of 7 at Cranbourne Mdn-Sw on April 4 over 1m, 2.5 len behind On Broadway with 130lbs at $7. Ran third at this trip on debut, will be better for that and has three good trials ahead of the return.

Last start 3rd of 9 at Kyneton 4yo+ Mdn-Sw on February 27 over 7f, on a slow track, 2 len behind Pick Wisely carrying 127lbs at $3.30. The race before that ran last of 12 at Warrnambool Mdn-Sw on December 31 over 7f, 99 len behind Prince Magnetite with 127lbs at $17. Heavily backed first up and not beaten far, so maybe give another chance with that run under the belt.
