AMALFI (1) is in good form with top-five finishes at his last four starts, most recently recording a third over 1 ³/16m at Rangiora. Sure to enjoy an economical run from this draw. Meets a comparable field so he is capable of continuing his fine form. FAREWELL SPIT (13) ran fourth last start at Waterlea Raceway over 1 ?m, beaten 11 metres. Expecting a very good run. FLO MOTION (7) has to come into calculations on the back of some strong recent form, most recently when third at Oamaru over 1 ¼m. Must be included. HI HOPES (12) is next in line but might need a few good breaks from an awkward draw.

Minus Pool

A pari-mutuel pool – typically a show pool - where one horse is so heavily bet that after deductions there is not enough money left to cover the prescribed minimum on each bet.

Main Track Only

A horse entered for main track only (MTO) is one hoping the weather forecast or track conditions will move the race off the turf course and onto the main track. They are scratched the morning of the race if the conditions stay dry.
