Verdict

MELIAN (4) looks the one to beat. He was well backed on debut and ran on well for second, no match for an impressive winner who has won well again since. That form looks strong and he should be better for the experience. If Williams can slot him in from the sticky gate he'll go close. GENOMIC (1) is a gelding by Vino Rosso on debut for the Robbie Griffiths yard. Liked his recent trial win at Cranbourne when finishing strongly under a hold. Expect he takes beating. OYSTER LANE (5) made nice improvement second up when getting into third behind Plunger, who has since won the Future Stars Final nicely. Any further improvement sees him right there again. SANTANA (7) debuted in a handy race at Flemington last time in and struggled but can do much better this time around while ROUGH ENUFF (6) was close up in a solid maiden on debut and is in the mix.
