PHOTOSYNTHESIS (6) is the horse to beat despite failing as favourite at Northam last start, where she finished seventh and beaten just under six lengths after covering ground. Her previous second to Unimando, beaten a length and a half after being held up near the 1 ¼f, is among the better exposed pieces of form in this maiden, and she has already placed at this track. SOVEREIGN ROCK (8) has the most recent near-miss, beaten just over half a length at Northam after leading and only being caught late, with the 4lbs claim adding to his claims. CARBARLOTT (2) has improved in two starts, placing at Kalgoorlie after a sound debut in BM44+ grade at this venue, and the 7lbs claim helps her chance. BIG MARE (12) has plain form on paper, but her Belmont run had enough interference and wide-running excuses to respect with first-time blinkers applied. NO STRAIT TEQUILA (10) creates some interest here on debut.
