Verdict

TEN GOOD REASONS (5) gets the nod after a much sharper BM65 second on the course proper, where he loomed up on heavy ground and was beaten just under a length. He rises in grade and tackles the poly for the first time, but the Rodd combination is solid and the inside draw will give him a great look on the quick back-up. HEART AND SPIRIT (4) is the clear danger on her best figures, with a narrow CL5 second two starts back and a genuine excuse when wide after an awkward start at Eagle Farm last week. BLAKEMORE AVENUE (3) has improved through the campaign and was held up late when third to Oohlalouvre, while her 5 ½f record gives her a reliable platform. KING OF THE JUNGLE (7) has been close enough in similar form lines and can hold a minor-winning hope if he finishes off better than his latest fourth.

Heart And Spirit silk

Had excuses when seventh in a Class 5 at Eagle Farm last week, jumping awkwardly, racing wide throughout and laying out on the home turn before finishing eight lengths from Cho Oyu. Her previous run was much better, leading and being pipped late by Gambler at Sunshine Coast. Third-up profile gives her strong claims.

Blakemore Avenue silk

Improved again when third to Oohlalouvre at Sunshine Coast, beaten just over two lengths after jumping awkwardly, racing keenly and then having difficulty getting clear from the 1f. Her Class 6 sixth at Eagle Farm two back was sound enough without quickening on soft ground. Genuine place hope with a winning rider back aboard.
