ALPHARD (6) gritty effort on debut when held up badly in the straight to finish an unlucky fourth over 6f at Canterbury. Never fully tested on debut and expected to take holding out here on the firmer surface. SAPLING (10) rewarded for her consistency third up when a commanding on pace winner over 6 ½f at Wyong. Has a clear fitness edge over these and can slide across from the wide gate. Goes close. SPICE PRAWN (11) back for her second prep after running respectable races in town last March. Given the two solid trials and look for her late from the sticky draw. I SHOW SPEED (4) speedy Canberra-trained gelding who demolished his rivals on debut over 5 ?f at Canberra Acton. Further improved and not to be underestimated.
