Verdict

HAY STREET (3) started favourite and led for the judge but was given windburn by Journeyman first-up over this distance at Warwick Farm. Unlikely to encounter one that smart today and with the run under the belt he is a big chance to open his account. PELEUS (6) settled well back then sprouted wings late but just missed when resuming over 5f at Gosford last time out. An extra 1f on this bigger track is ideal. Looks a different proposition since being gelded and can give the top pick a run for his money. MAIDOFF (4) recovered from a slow start to get up for third recently over 5 ½f at Wyong. Better placed under this scenario and he should prove tough to hold out. The speedy WAN LOST (1) just failed to hang on over today's journey at Gosford last start. Progressing nicely and won't spend a penny from gate one. BRICKOWSKI (2) is a first starter by Ole Kirk from stakes winner Steps In Time who has thrown six winners from six foals. Recent trial winner who is ready to run.

Second run back. First-up after five months crossed from a wide gate to lead but couldn't hold on when 2nd of 12 at Warwick Farm Super 3yo Mdn-Sw on February 4 over 6f, slow going 2.75 len behind Journeyman with 126lbs at $2.45. Previously second-up 2nd of 10 at Bendigo 3yo Mdn-Sw on September 7 over 6 ½f, in the wet, head behind Romantic Encounter carrying 128lbs at $3.40. Bumped into a very smart three-year-old last time and won't have as much bother with this lot.

Second run back. First-up after four months made ground from midfield, 2nd of 10 at Gosford Super Mdn on February 5 over 5f, long-neck behind Charka with 130lbs at $2.40. Previously second-up eased back early on 5th of 10 at Wyong Mdn-Sw on August 31 over 5f, 1.5 len behind Whatalegacy with 125lbs at $3.60. Fitter for that outing and will be tough to beat.

Third-up today. Resuming 2nd in a small field at Warwick Farm 3yo C&G Mdn-Sw on January 26 over 5 ½f, 0.7 len behind Bryant with 117lbs at $5.50. Second-up 3rd of 7 at Wyong Cg&E Mdn on February 10 over 5 ½f, on a slow track, 1.5 len behind Gravel Road with 129lbs at $2.45. Rock-hard fit and will be hard to hold out with Nash taking over from a claiming apprentice.
