DON PEDRO (5) is going well for the new yard winning his first try here fresh then beaten a nose last time at Toowoomba. Fitter for the longer trip and looks very well placed with the claim and the light weight. SCRUB CHAIN (6) came home strongly last start to finish second, beaten a nose, over 7 ¾f at Mackay. Will drift back but wind up late. Leading contender. ASTRA STAR (4) has been racing well and is close to a win, the latest effort a solid second at Townsville over 7f. Has a solid record at this circuit. One of the contenders. PIPISTRELLE (1) stuck on well last start to finish third over 1m at Doomben after showing good early speed. Perfectly placed and is sure to prove tough to beat. PEPPERDINE (7) wasn't far away fresh and is a second-up winner who boasts a terrific record here.
