Verdict

ERIMAR (5) is the horse to beat after staying within two and a half lengths of High Prophet in Saturday 3yo Open company at Doomben, with late interference adding merit. His previous Doomben sixth was also better than it reads after covering ground, and the return to Class 1 level is backed by a prior win at this track and trip plus proven wet-track form. SHIPPING LANE (2) brings a direct Mackay Class 2 line, beaten a head by Tara I Am at generous odds, but the soft 5 is a small unknown. ADRANOS (1) has the class drop from a Mackay Class 2 and was only beaten two lengths as favourite there, though he has to rebound from an untidy, keen-running effort and prove as effective at this venue. MR GREY (8) is the value danger if he is sharp off a two-month freshening, with his Emerald fifth in Benchmark 55 grade better than the margin after he finished off despite racing wide early.
