RIVENDELL (5) trialled sharply before resuming but has only been okay with a pair of fourths. Blinkers go on third up and JMac takes over. Bold showing anticipated. KOMODO DRAGON (7) is a promising gelding for the O'Shea & Charlton yard. Chased gamely into second behind Castlejohn when resuming. There's a chance he's already looking for further, but he's got enough ability to have himself in the finish. BETTER LATE (8) was taken straight to the front second up and didn't give his rivals a sniff, leading all the way. Strips fitter and draws kinder. Can give this a shake. SIRAGUSA (10) returns and has been fitted with two solid trials. Drawn to advantage and can make his presence felt.

A horse entered for main track only (MTO) is one hoping the weather forecast or track conditions will move the race off the turf course and onto the main track. They are scratched the morning of the race if the conditions stay dry.

Claiming Race

A race in which horses are entered for a certain price, or claiming tag, which is also their sales price. An owner can claim any horse entered for the tag before the race begins, and owns them as soon as the gates open.

A sudden veering to the inside or outside rail, often caused by the horse spooking or shying from something.
