STEEL AMBER (4) sets the form standard after winning a 3yo+ C4 at Mombetsu over 5f, beating Wright Flyer by half a length after being prominent in the market. The rise to 6f is the main reservation, but his seven-start record of two wins and five placings gives him a solid base. QUEEN'S MONAKA (5) is the clear danger, having missed by a neck as favourite last start after going down by a nose the run prior, her Mombetsu 6f record reads strongly without being prolific. FAWKES UP (8) has the right recent shape, winning two back then closing off for fifth behind Peptide Avance, and looks the value danger if he converts that finish sooner. UNICORN WHALE (9) is much harder to trust after two poor 1 ?m runs, but the class drop and three placings from twelve attempts at this track and distance keep him in the wider winning discussion if he rebounds sharply.
