MEETHAQ (6) earned top billing with a decisive three-length COND win at Funabashi, beating Baby Maybe after being well found in betting, and he now reaches the third run of the campaign with the same rider aboard. That gives him the most appealing upward profile. G T UTAMARO (11) is the immediate threat after leading and being run down late when second to Terrentius at this track, beaten a length and a half as a well-supported favourite, the new 1 ¼m test is the query, but the stable and jockey profile is strong. SIVA SHIN (5) has been plain at his past two, yet his two wins from five starts at this track and distance keep him firmly in the discussion. EXCEL GRAND (8) resumes with a strong 1 ¼m record and was last seen winning by five lengths at this venue as favourite, although the break and prior defeat by Siva Shin temper the confidence slightly.
