Verdict

HE'S LUCID (2) wrapped up his last campaign with a fast finishing second over 7f at Otaki nine weeks ago on a soft track, and he returns in a winnable race. He has trialled up nicely at Foxton, and if the tempo is genuine in this, then he can have the last say. ONE BOLD GIGOLO (5) was safely held over 1 ?m at Trentham before a break of nearly 6 weeks, but he has since trialled at Foxton to maintain his fitness. He gets a nice swing in his draw, and with Craig Grylls back in the saddle, he is a solid top 4 chance. TYCOON PRINCE (9) resumed with a fair effort over 6f at Tauranga, beaten by 2 and a half lengths when peaking late. He strips fitter and even with 8 weeks between runs, he will be ready to run a big race. Stick with him. TRUCE (4) showed early speed when resuming at New Plymouth before weakening late over 7f. He was heavily backed that day, so he must have been working well, and he can make amends in this. Each way value.

Comes here off a 41-day let-up. Most recently ran last of 18 at Trentham on January 17 over 1m, on a slow track, 15 len behind Indie Ardie with 128lbs at $8.50. The run before that ran on from midfield, 2nd of 11 at Te Rapa on December 20 over 1 5/16m, slow going 1.0 len behind Roctave with 120lbs at $4.60. Certainly worth another chance.
