Verdict

CONISTON (2) was very green on debut but improved on that when looming up from midfield and running away late at Matamata last time. Take beating again. VINTAGE ROSE (9) got well back early but reeled them in and knuckled down gamely to score on debut at Matamata. Respect again here. SHIRASE (7) loomed up to them on the turn and got home in a tight finish last start at Te Rapa. McNab sticks with him after also winning on Coniston and Vintage Rose last start. FORTUNATO (3) scored a narrow but nice win on debut then outclassed in the G2 Hawkes Bay Guineas here last time when raced greenly. May pay to forgive. INCANDESCENT (1) won the LR Champagne Stakes back in May and caught the eye from the back when fresh last month. Adds depth here.
