Verdict

The Naas bumper in which APACHE PEAK was outpointed by Coole Cafe developed into a sprint, a scenario that didn't favour Ross O'Sullivan's charge and, granted a stronger end-to-end gallop, the outcome may well be different this time. That said, Coole Cafe is clearly talented and merits the utmost respect, while Brady Hartsfield is another strong candidate on the back of his promising debut second at Punchestown. Cinating completes the shortlist.

Apache Peak (Ire) silk

Chased Minella Yoga home in an academy hurdle at Fairyhouse on debut in November, and that rival has since made up into a very useful novice. Has also found just one too good in each of his 2 starts in bumpers, latterly conceding first run when beaten 3½ lengths by Coole Cafe at Naas.

Coole Cafe (Ire) silk

Won 10-runner juvenile hurdle at Navan (17f, heavy) on debut in December. Disappointing on first run in a bumper next time but seemingly benefited from the addition of a hood when proving 3½ lengths too strong for Apache Peak at Naas. Obvious claims.

Brady Hartsfield (Ire) silk

Half-brother to French 11f winner Lionel de Mars and positive start to his career when going down narrowly on debut in a Punchestown bumper last month. That experience won't be wasted on him and he's a key player.
