WHIMSY arrives fit from hurdling and gets the vote having finished third in a warm race at the Curragh off 2 lb higher when last seen on the Flat just over a year ago. Granite Bay posted several good efforts in defeat last autumn and is second choice ahead of Colin Keane's mount Zoffman.

A slip or a duck from a horse trying to leave the starting gates, often caused by the surface giving way under the feet. This can range from a mild misstep to a stumble down to their knees.

Exercise Rider

A rider built much like a jockey but is employed for exercising and working out horses in the morning.

A horse that is entered but does not draw into the body of the field due to too many entries, and thus is not permitted to start unless there are enough scratches to shrink the field size.
