SWIFT THINKER (6) put in a nice effort on debut when recovered from an early check to trail the leader and she fought well to grab 3rd at Riverton in April. Nicely placed here. TORCHEM (2) ran on strongly from midfield for 2nd on debut in the same Riverton race as Swift Tinker then spelled. Battled on ok from well back on the heavy Wingatui track when fresh. Improver. OUTLAW (1) led for a long way at long odds but was reeled in on debut at Timaru recently. Danger here with a repeat performance. RUPENI (3) is a former northerner who ran on well for a 2nd at Trentham in his second start this time last year but didn't show a lot after. Possible improver from new stable. LEAVITT (8) had 3 northern trails as a 2yo last season, the best a 5th. Better effort for 2nd for this new stable at the Timaru trials last week.
