AIRWAVES (4) is the one to beat after stringing together wins in BM50 grade at Ewan and BM55 grade at Bowen, the latest when beating Mordecai by just over half a length. He rises to a stronger meeting and BM60 level, but his current form, wet-track record and perfect two-from-two pairing with Mitch Goring give him the most reliable winning profile. ENGELINE (11) is the main danger, with her Cloncurry third better than it reads after being checked near the 1 ½f and she drops sharply in weight. DECIMUS (10) has not been winning, yet the class drop, weight relief and long record around this distance make him a genuine improver. SEALORD (7) comes through stronger BM65 and BM70 races, was only beaten a length and a half at Bowen after covering ground, and appeals as the value runner if he handles the shorter trip.
