Competitive. ZAYA (3) is speedy and missed a nose here this grade/trip first-up before coming back and recording a 58 win over 6 ½f when she skipped across from a wide gate and led. Back 1f in trip, and she should make short work of another awkward barrier. Presents fitter again and can go on with the job. DETERMINATION (2) ran below his best here last time in stronger company, but had come off three narrow defeats at Rockhampton, and they stack right up. The wide gate is a niggle, but he can feature with average luck. RAVENITE (9) resumes, and he started his last campaign in good style when in the placings over 5 ¼f at this track. Draws inside and has a handy 4lbs claim. He can make the finish if presented on song. SPIRIT OF MAC (1) resumed improved winning a CL3 at Townsville on a heavy track. Surprised the market but Wiggins rides today, suggesting he's pleasing. Has been kept on the fresh side and is worth a look.
