Verdict

Very nice maiden field. HITCH (11) from a lovely gate gets the nod. Placed on debut at Newcastle then was there to strike in the run home but found one a touch better over 6 ½f here last start. Can continue the ascendancy and take this out. STATEROOM (9) found the line well to be beaten just 1.5 lengths on debut last time out over 6f at Canterbury. Has a wide gate which is a concern but with a bit of luck he should be right in the finish. STITZER (10) is back for a second campaign following an 18-week lay-off. Raced twice in the maiden prep, both times at stakes level, and performed admirably. Will be looking for more ground eventually but 7f while fresh looks ideal. CADDY'S STEPS (13) warmed to the task late but was never a factor on debut over 6f at Gosford recently. Better placed on this roomier track over an extra 1f. SPARKLING FIRE (2) ran a bold race to finish second when resuming at Newcastle a fortnight ago. Sure to give backers a sight.

Synthetic Surface

A racing surface comprised of silica sand and fibers, such as recycled carpet or spandex. The mixture is then sealed with wax.
