Verdict

Big field and wide open. SOUTHERN AURORAS (3) raced on pace fresh in a Class 1 and proved too smart. That was off a long break and can only be fitter. Definitely worth following up. HUBUBBAJAHN (11) is usually thereabouts but finds it hard to win, with just two wins from 26 starts. Tried to lead throughout but she found one better over 5 ¾f at Devonport Synthetic. Placed to advantage so expect a big run. TRIBAL COUNCIL (4) was out of the money two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 6f at this track, beaten 3.5 lengths into fourth. Has been thereabouts without winning but on his best form he is one of the key runners. BENEFITSOFMINE (1) turned in a fine effort to score by a neck at this track and distance last start in a much improved run. That was his first run in this area for the new yard and can only be improved. ALPINE RUBY (5) was in the minor money last timed should run well again.
