BIG PAPA (12) justified the short price on debut ($1.35 fav), when an effortless on-pace winner over 5 ½f at Bathurst. Looks to be airborne after the two impressive trial wins and resumes in a winnable contest. DETENDU (2) talented gelding unlucky not to have a few more wins on his CV. Chased hard when third to Mailata over 5f at Gosford in quick time. A repeat here can see him finish over the top of them. GAMBLER (4) finally got off the mark at start five when ploughing through the heavy (8) going for a determined win over 5f at Kembla Grange. Impressed in two trials and looks set for a solid campaign. CHARLEROI (1) Dundeel gelding with upside who will find this short of his best first-up. Lugging-bit goes on and look for him charging late with the two good trials.
