Verdict

CASTAGNOLA (1) caught the eye in the closing stages of his first-up run over 6 ¾f at Wyong, appearing late on the scene to be beaten under two lengths. Needs the extra ¾f today and the blinkers going on might sharpen him up in the early stages. Looks the testing material. Veteran THE REPLICANT (2) is normally reliable but has lost his way at the last couple of runs in town. In the money at seven of ten runs at this trip. On a four-day back-up in weaker company so he can turn things around. FLYING FROM ABOVE (4) was six weeks between runs before a last start fourth over 7f here when he made late inroads. Gets a soft run from an inside gate and will be hard to hold out over this slightly longer journey. GIRLY POP (9) improved out of sight to grab second over 7f at this track recently. Can make further progress at just the fourth run of the prep.
