DANCE GAVIN DANCE (16) showed plenty of natural pace and gave a kick under pressure but was edged out on debut last start over 5f at Ballina. Will take a lot from that experience. Makes his own luck up front again and he is clearly the one to beat. SUNSTAZ (12) was friendless in betting on debut last time out over 4f at Coffs Harbour but worked home well to grab a minor placing. Expect the market to sit up and pay attention this time around, particularly over this more suitable journey. RICH STAR (2) returns after an 18-week spell. Was competitive at all three runs in the maiden campaign, with seven winners coming out of the last two races he contested. Blinkers go on today. Just needs luck from the wide gate to be right in the finish. ZOSMA (5) last appeared when a close second over 6 ½f at Lismore on 19 December. Placed five from eight so although this is short of his best a big run is likely. MAXXED OUT (1) impressed first-up at Coffs and can improve out to this trip.

A race where a handicapper has assigned weights to be carried by all runners on the basis of their past racing efforts.

Fractions

A bet selecting the first and second horses in a race in the correct order. An exacta box refers to paying a little more to ensure they can finish in either order.
