Verdict

RAINBOW CHARLIE (5) made his debut as an easing favourite with a game on-pace third over 4 ½f at Newcastle in the heavy conditions. Key jockey change from the inside gate and can put these away on the improving surface. IAMBUBB (7) even return as the equal favourite when he held a forward position to run fourth over 4 ½f at Newcastle. Penza sticks and he should appreciate the extra trip. Has further upside and genuine winning claims. PAZYRYK (8) resumes after bumping into some handy types last time in. Gripped on late with an even fifth over 6f at Kembla Grange last February. Has trialled well leading into this and the winkers come off. No surprise to see her take this out. MAGIC BLAZE (1) Kermadec gelding from Masai Magic on debut for the Jim & Greg Lee yard. Primed for this with the two good trials and keep safe from the good gate.

Horse Racing Basic Terms

Exacta

A bet selecting the first and second horses in a race in the correct order. An exacta box refers to paying a little more to ensure they can finish in either order.

Main Track Only

A horse entered for main track only (MTO) is one hoping the weather forecast or track conditions will move the race off the turf course and onto the main track. They are scratched the morning of the race if the conditions stay dry.

Minus Pool

A pari-mutuel pool – typically a show pool - where one horse is so heavily bet that after deductions there is not enough money left to cover the prescribed minimum on each bet.
