RUSSIAN ESCAPE (3) went to the front in a new role last start and gave a kick but was swamped at the end of 1m at Taree. Not far away two back over this distance at Grafton and his only win came at 7f. Can bounce back in a race that lacks depth to the form. MIDNIGHT IN MINORI (6) received a cold ride over the mile at Coonamble a fortnight ago and struggled to get involved. Placed at four of eight runs over this trip. Needs luck from the gate but can improve sharply. JAGERSCHNITZEL (2) has been expensive for backers with a couple of narrow defeats of late as favourite, most recently over this distance at Tamworth after leading. Testing the patience - maybe new rider Nick Heywood is the circuit breaker. MINERS MATE (4) ended a run of four top three finishes with a disappointing effort over 6f at Port Macquarie last start. Use his very close second two back over today's trip at Armidale as a better guide. TSARINA DIAMONDS (12) next best off a 33-day let-up.
