Verdict

RACH (4) relished the drop in weight and extra distance with a comfortable victory over 7f at Newcastle in the soft (7) going. Comes to town now full of confidence and expected to go close. WOUNDER (9) fifth-up for this after mixing his distances of late. Gripped on late in the heavy going with a respectable fourth over 1 ³/16m at this track a week-and-a-half ago. Back in trip in what looks a weaker race and sure to be thereabouts. PAWA (5) took control early from the inside gate second-up when he led throughout to score a dominant win over 1m at Hawkesbury in the heavy going. Similar setup for this and looks up to this grade. POLO (6) finally lived up to expectations out to the 1m with a hard-fought neck win at Hawkesbury. Finds a suitable race and can figure in the finish.
