Verdict

Big field and plenty of pressure up front. For that reason POND MASTER (1) can swoop over the top late. On the seven-day back-up and back in trip so expected to be beaten for pace early but has a big finish and Pike aboard. Watch out late. SHOWLAS (6) on the other hand will be up front leading the way. Racing well and can give a big sight. SALTY MISS (8) has some really good figures for this from last campaign and returns after a long break. Will relish the early pressure and fly late. CHERYL'S SHOUT (7) finished 4 lengths back in 12th over 7f at Belmont Park last time out after a gutsy win two runs back. Meets easier opposition this time. In the mix. PLAYING QUEST (9) draws well and another big run is in store.

Horse Racing Basic Terms

Firm

A dry turf course, equal to a ‘fast’ dirt track.

Dead Heat

Two or more horses finishing so close at the wire, that they were unable to be separated on a photo finish and deemed to have tied.

Also Eligible

A horse that is entered but does not draw into the body of the field due to too many entries, and thus is not permitted to start unless there are enough scratches to shrink the field size.
