Verdict

BRITISH GEM (12) improved effort at her second run back when chased strongly to run second over 6 ¾f at Doomben. Finds a weaker contest and the sticky draw shouldn't pose a problem third-up. Go close. ELROND (1) unlucky not to have already shed his Maiden status. Gets the right set-up for this after charging late from the sticky gate when second over 7f at the Sunshine Coast. Shapes as the main danger. GIAPPONESE (5) was well supported on resumption when attacking the line strongly for a narrow second over 7f at Grafton. Has the upside to go on with it here from the awkward barrier. ADEQUATE EZE (3) is a lightly raced gelding improving with racing. Warmed up late when second in a small field over 7f at Ballina. Can race a little closer from the draw and is expected to take a hand in the finish.
