Verdict

COSMIC CRUSADER (5) will line up here after failing to gain a start in the Railway last week. He had no luck there in the Peters off a moderate tempo where he was boxed in until the dying stages. Suspect they won't leave anything up to luck this time, he'll roll forward and get back to winning ways. ASPHALT (10) made it six wins in a row last start with a gutsy performance over the mile here just last week, beating a handy field. Back to 7f today looks a good move and he's sure to be handy from the draw. Can continue his winning run without surprising. YONGA LASS (6) disappointed in the Lee Steere but was great fresh at Kalgoorlie. Pike now hops back aboard and her third-up record is solid. Ready to peak now and can put her best foot forward. AZTEC RULER (2) wasn't far away in the Peters off a slow tempo where he was caught wide. Can feature again. Hoping we get a strong tempo so we can see where ZIPAWAY (1) is at enroute to the Perth Cup.

Racing well recently. At the latest run 3rd of 11 at this track in the G3 R J Peters on November 15 over 7 ½f, neck behind Storyville carrying 123lbs at $1.80. The start before that held ground to the line 3rd of 13 at this track in the G3 Asian Beau on November 1 over 7f, neck behind Watch Me Rock carrying 119lbs at $1.40. Should be in the Railway and he's clearly the one to beat.

Made it six wins on end last start when scoring by 0.4 lens in a BM72+ over 1m, defeating Funchal as a $3.50 chance. Can continue to raise the bar and the drop back to 7f looks ideal.

Third-up today and won third-up previously. Resuming made significant ground from the rear of the field 2nd of 12 at Kalgoorlie Golden Saddle on October 4 over 6f, long-neck behind Magnificent Andy carrying 125lbs at $10. Second-up 9th of 11 at this track in the G2 Lee Steere on November 8 over 7f, 5 len behind Super Smink carrying 126lbs at $16. Never got a chance last week but her run prior suggests she's right in this.
