Verdict

WESTBOUND (5) settled last on resumption over this track and trip but rallied strongly to finish 1.4L off the winner. He's sure to be better for that run and I suspect he sits closer this time around with Berry in the saddle. Can improve second-up and continue his rise through the grades with the blinkers on for the first time. DESERT WAVES (2) made it three wins from his past 4 starts when winning by 0.8L last start when leading throughout. He rises in weight off that win, but he's an improving type who still has plenty of upside. Can find the front again and will take catching. STYLISH LORD (1) disappointed when leading them up over 1m last time out and drops back to a more preferred distance today. He's right back in grade as well and possesses plenty of speed. Can make amends. SUPERFLUOUS (6) is better than he showed last time out and can improve out in trip. KERVETTE (4) can feature on resumption.

At the latest run won by 0.8 len at this track Grad Hcp 60+ April 4 over 7f defeating Snippety Legend with 120lbs at $2.45. Before that 5th of 14 at this track Grad Hcp 60+ on March 14 over 7f, 1.0 len behind King Hit carrying 127lbs at $4.40. Hard to knock his recent form and he'll be tough to run down from the front yet
