Grizzlies vs. Lakers Game 6 Analysis
Coming off back-to-back losses on the road, Memphis responded in a big way in Game 5, securing a 17-point home victory to extend the series. The Grizzlies opened up a lead late in the first quarter, and despite a slow start to the second half, never relinquished it. In the second half, Memphis broke away from the Lakers near the end of the third quarter and never looked back.
To extend the series to a Game 7, Memphis will have to secure a playoff win on the road, which is something they have struggled to do over the past three seasons. At home this season, the Grizzlies held their opponents to just 109.2 points per game (second-best in the league). On the road, that number jumped to 116.9 (11th-worst). Memphis has yet to score more than 116 points this series, and their two wins came in games in which they held Los Angeles to less than 100 points.
In what has been a very low-scoring series thus far, the path to a Grizzlies upset in Game 6 likely starts on defense.
