Fantasy Football: 3 Quarterback Streamer Options for Week 8

Streaming quarterbacks remains an integral part of fantasy football for those who were willing to wait on the position in favor of loading up their lineups in drafts.
It's not always the preferred option as putting top-shelf guys in your lineup and forgetting it is always nice, but you can get some great value on the waiver wire each week to start at the position, keeping you competitive on a week-to-week basis.
Whether it's 10-team or 12-team leagues, there's going to be options out there to choose from.
When it comes to streaming a quarterback, there are multiple factors in play with none being more important than the defense they're opposing. From there, you can look at the situation they're in, what they've been doing as of late, and more. All of this matters -- especially when you're trying to find points at the most important position in football.
Bye weeks aren't in play for Week 8, so there will be a handful of good streamer options to choose from. Let's dive into the best of the bunch.
Quarterback Streamers for Week 8
Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints
Week 8 Opponent: Indianapolis Colts
The performances may not be the prettiest to watch, but Derek Carr is slowly putting it together -- at least in terms of fantasy numbers.
Since the return of Alvin Kamara, Carr has been able to hit the 300-yard mark twice through the air, including last Thursday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Carr finished Week 7 with 18.4 fantasy points after throwing for 301 passing yards, a touchdown, and rushing for 14 yards. That landed him as the QB8 on the week, one week after finishing as the QB10. Even if he and the New Orleans Saints look off when they're on the field, Carr is getting it done, and that's all that matters for fantasy.
The matchup against the Indianapolis Colts is a quality one for quarterbacks. The Colts are allowing 16.0 fantasy points per game to signal-callers. The one thing holding Carr back more than anything else has been touchdowns. He's thrown two touchdowns in a game only once this season. The good news for Carr is that Indianapolis is allowing 27.3 points per game, giving the Saints plenty of room for some big numbers on Sunday.
Carr is the top streamer option this week.
Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers
Week 8 Opponent: Houston Texans
Coming off the bye, Bryce Young has a shot to show his potential in the battle of top-two picks when his Carolina Panthers take on C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans.
Young has finished with at least 20 points just once in his rookie campaign. He totaled 20.3 points in Week 5 before putting up a cold 12.7 points in Week 6, being on the wrong side of a Miami Dolphins blowout. The good news for the start of Young's career is that he's found a connection with Adam Thielen -- one that should be able to create some noise against Houston.
The Texans are allowing 17.0 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks, giving Young the legs to have one of his best outings. Houston has allowed 1,473 passing yards, resulting in an average of 245.5 per game.
Maybe the best news for Young is that the Texans have struggled to get to the quarterback this year. They have registered just nine sacks, the fewest of any team through the first seven weeks. Young has rarely had time in the pocket this season, as can be seen by the 16 sacks he's had to deal with across his five starts. If the 2023 No. 1 overall pick can get time in the pocket, he can have a good day.
He's a good streamer in deeper leagues this weekend.
Mac Jones, New England Patriots
Week 8 Opponent: Miami Dolphins
I know what you're thinking. But with fewer and fewer quarterbacks available on the waiver wire due to inconsistent play, previous bye weeks, injuries, and more, Mac Jones is an option for QB-needy teams.
Jones had his best start since Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills this past Sunday, going 25 of 30 (83.3%) through the air, finishing with 272 yards and 2 touchdowns -- good enough for 20.0 fantasy points. It was a pretty complete effort from the New England Patriots on the offensive side of the ball as they utilized rookie wideout Demario Douglas more as well as Rhamondre Stevenson.
It may have simply been an off day for the Bills, but the Patriots looked like a reinvigorated offense compared to the previous three weeks. Asking the Pats to carry that into Miami may be a lot, but Jones had a fine start against them earlier this season (14.7 points), so it's not crazy.
The Miami Dolphins have been susceptible to quarterbacks, allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to the position on a per-game basis (19.0). Coming off a loss and being at home, the Dolphins' offense will likely be running at top pace once again, so the Patriots are going to have to try to keep up with them the best they can.
This clash has a high 47.0-point total, per FanDuel Sportsbook. Expect a lot of points and enough from Jones -- whether it's keeping up or garbage time -- to make him a good streamer in Week 8.
