Netherlands vs. France Analysis

This should be one of the better group clashes as France and the Netherlands are two of the best teams in the world, with each side littered with players who play at Europe's top clubs.

In their opening matches, France bested Austria by a 1-0 score, and the Netherlands edged Poland 2-1. On expected goals (xG), France prevailed 2.0-0.8, according to FBRef's xG model, while the Netherlands and Poland was very even (1.4-1.3 in favor of Holland).

France may be without star Kylian Mbappe (nose) due to injury. That would be a blow, but this French roster is loaded and can cope without Mbappe.

In qualifying, France won seven of eight games, with the lone exception being a draw in the final round when their qualification was already sealed. Those seven wins included a pair of triumphs -- 4-0 and 2-1 -- over the Dutch.

Netherlands won every qualifying match outside of its two with France.

Even with Mbappe's status up in the air, France is the favorite as Opta's model gives the French a 52.4% chance to win.

But MasseyRatings has things a lot more even, projecting France to win 39% of the time while giving the Netherlands 33% win odds.

France's +115 moneyline via the Euro 2024 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook splits those two projections nearly right down the middle as the +115 odds imply win odds of 46.5%
