NBA Betting Odds: Can Daniel Gafford Break Wilt Chamberlain’s NBA Record?

During a typical Dallas Mavericks game, all eyes would usually be on stand-out point guard Luka Doncic. But tonight, the spotlight will shine on Dallas’ Daniel Gafford as he inches closer to beating a 57-year-old NBA record.

The Mavericks’ 6-foot-10 center is just three successful shots away from surpassing Wilt Chamberlain's record for the most consecutive made field goals. This record was initially set by Chamberlain when he made 35 straight shots across four games from February 17 to February 28, 1967.

Tonight, Gafford is positioned to potentially break the record. After making all five of his shots against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, March 13th, Gafford has successfully made 33 consecutive field goals.

This streak puts him in second place in NBA history for the most consecutive field goals made.

Here is a look at Gafford’s last five games:

Date
Opponent
Points
Field Goals Made/Attempted
March 5Indiana Pacers167/7
March 7Miami Heat125/5
March 9Detroit Pistons177/7
March 11Chicago Bulls209/9
March 13Golden State Warriors105/5

Gafford's journey with the Mavericks is a recent development, having been traded by the Washington Wizards in early February. Since coming to Dallas, he is averaging 10.6 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks over 14 games.

The Mavericks will be traveling to play the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight, broadcasted on TNT starting at 10:00pm ET.

The Western Conference matchup could make an interesting opportunity for Gafford to beat Chamberlain’s record. With Doncic ruled out with an injury, Dallas fans will undoubtedly be rooting for Gafford to create a memorable moment.
