Cognizant Classic Daily Fantasy Targets

These picks stand out relative to their FanDuel daily fantasy golf salary. All stats cited below originate at datagolf and reference ranks relative to the field over the past 50 rounds unless otherwise noted.

Cognizant Classic Daily Fantasy Studs

Rory McIlroy ($12,400 | +700)

Rory McIlroy enters this week coming off a T24 at The Genesis Invitational where he struggled around the greens but led the field in strokes gained: off the tee. He is first in the field in total strokes gained, strokes gained: tee to green, strokes gained: off the tee, and driving distance and also sits 14th in strokes gained: approach and 17th in strokes gained: putting.

McIlroy is in a tier of his own when looking at win odds; no other golfer has win odds shorter than +2000. Approach shots will be crucial this week since PGA National’s average greens in regulation (59.9%) ranks 20th of 87 courses. Rory has gained strokes on approach in 3 of his 4 events this season -- and 11 of his last 14.

Rory has a mixed history at PGA National. He won there in 2012, and finished second in 2014, but in his three appearances since he has two missed cuts and a T59. He isn’t a perfect fit for the course, but he is the best golfer in the field per several key metrics and is in a tier of his own.

J.T. Poston ($10,900 | +3000)

Outside of his missed cut in Phoenix, J.T Poston has been excellent recently. He has finished T20 or better in five of his six events this season with a T10 or better finish in three of those six. He is 2nd in the field in total strokes gained, 2nd in strokes gained: putting, 8th in strokes gained: approach, and 11th in strokes gained: tee to green. He isn’t the longest off the tee (98th in distance this week) but has been above average in driving accuracy in all six of his events this season.

With just one missed cut and 8 top-10 finishes in his last 15 events, Poston has been one of the most consistent golfers on tour since missing the cut at the Travelers last year. He is the only golfer in the field that ranks inside the top 10 in both strokes gained: putting and strokes gained: approach.

Others to Consider:

  • Eric Cole ($10,800 | +2500)
  • Tom Kim ($10,700 | +3000)
  • Byeong Hun An ($10,400 | +2800)

Cognizant Classic Daily Fantasy Mid-Range Plays

Rasmus Hojgaard ($9,900 | +5000)

Rasmus Hojgaard has been on absolute fire on the DP World Tour, finishing T11 or better in all five of his starts this season. He has finished T26 or better in his last 11 starts and notched five top-10 finishes during that stretch. He has done all of that while struggling in shots gained: approach, losing strokes to the field in all four of his events this season and ranks 79th in the field.

His putting has been key; he ranks third in the field in strokes gained: putting. He also ranks 7th in driving distance and 16th in total strokes gained. At just 22 years old, Hojgaard already has a wealth of experience playing at the highest level and has four wins on the DP World Tour.

Adam Svensson ($9,300 | +4000)

Adam Svensson is coming off a T10 finished The Genesis Invitational and has made the cut in all three of his appearances at PGA National, including a T9 finish in 2022. He is 6th in field in strokes gained: tee to green, 13th in strokes gained: approach, 17th in driving accuracy, and 26th in total strokes gained.

His weakness has been the flat stick, ranking 84th in strokes gained: putting. He's lost strokes putting in his last four events. He ranks 39th on the PGA tour in bogey avoidance (11.40%), which is above the tour average of 13.64% and should be beneficial this week at PGA National. The cut line has been over par in the last five events here.

Others to Consider:

  • Corey Conners ($9,600 | +4000)
  • Doug Ghim ($9,200 | +7000)
  • Erik Van Rooyen ($9,000 | +7000)

Cognizant Classic Daily Fantasy Values

Christiaan Bezuidenhout ($8,900 | +6000)

Christiaan Bezuidenhout has finished T28 or better in four of his five starts this season, including a second-place finish at The American Express in late January. He has gained at least 1.16 strokes per round on approach in all five of those events. He is 12th in the field in strokes gained: approach and 13th in strokes gained: putting.

His weakness is his distance (130th in the field), but that shouldn’t hurt him as much here. In his two previous appearances at PGA National, he has finishes of T42 and T25 and has gained strokes off the tee in both events.

Mark Hubbard ($8,700 | +10000)

Mark Hubbard has made the cut in all six of his events this season, including a T4 finish at the rain-shortened AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Hubbard ranks 116th in the field in distance but is 24th in accuracy and top 40 in total strokes gained, strokes gained: tee to green, strokes gained: approach, and strokes gained: around the green. He is also 57th in strokes gained: putting.

Hubbard has made the cut in five of his six events at PGA National with two top-15 finishes.

Others to Consider:

  • Ryo Hisatsune ($8,800 | +10000)
  • Davis Thompson ($8,800 | +8000)
  • Carson Young ($8,300 | +12000)
  • Justin Lower ($7,700 | +17000)
