Cavaliers vs. Knicks Game 3 Analysis

After the Knicks won a close Game 1, the Cavaliers responded in a big way with a dominant 17-point victory in Game 2. After getting out-rebounded 51-38 in Game 1, Cleveland adjusted and won the battle of the boards 43-36 in Game 2.

Adding in their regular season meetings, the Knicks are now 4-2 against Cleveland this season, with an average margin of victory of 7.8 points in their wins and an average margin of defeat of 15.0 points in their losses.

With the series shifting to New York, the Knicks will aim to take advantage of what is sure to be an electric atmosphere inside Madison Square Garden. To do so, they will need to reverse a regular-season trend that saw them produce a higher winning percentage on the road (58.5%) than at home (56.1%).

New York's field goal percentage in home games this season (47.9%) ranked 19th in the league. Cleveland's winning percentage in away games (48.8%) and field goal percentage in away games (48.4%) both ranked 8th-best.

The playoffs provide a different kind of atmosphere, which should help the Knicks, but they face a strong road team in Cleveland in an important Game 3.
