Anthony Joshua vs. Otto Wallin: Odds, How to Watch Heavyweight Bout

To make the holiday weekend even better, let's add a bit of boxing to the sporting slate.

Taking place this Saturday (December 23rd) in Saudi Arabia, former unified champion Anthony "AJ" Joshua (26-3, 23 KO) will face Otto "All In" Wallin (26-1, 14 KO). This is billed as the Day of Reckoning, and Kingdom Arena in Riyadh will serve as venue.

Headlining an eight-bout fight card (one that features Deontay Wilder in one match and Dmitry Bivol in another), Joshua and Wallin will look to put a stamp on a brilliant year for boxing.

Can Joshua-Wallin end 2023 with a bang?

Fighter History

Anthony Joshua

As one of the most popular heavyweights of the modern era, Anthony "AJ" Joshua is appearing in the squared circle for the third time in 2023. He has done well to return from back-to-back losses versus unified champion Oleksandr Usyk, building a two-fight winning streak since then.

Even in boxing's most imposing division, the British heavyweight towers above majority of his opponents. Standing at a chiseled 6-foot-6, Joshua works with a sweeping reach of 82 inches. Simply, AJ is enormous and in fantastic fighting shape.

Joshua has lost only three fights in his professional career, being defeated by just two different boxers (Usyk and Andy Ruiz). Still, AJ has some staggering numbers, such as his 88.5% knockout rate. On the cusp of Christmas, Joshua will hunt for knockout No. 24.

Otto Wallin

Serving as the challenger this Saturday night, Otto Wallin is a lefty heavyweight from Sundsvall, Sweden. At age 33, he is barely one year younger than Joshua. On the tale of the tape, Wallin measures in at 6-foot-5.5 tall, which can look eye-to-eye with almost anyone in the circuit. However, his reach of 78 inches is considerably shorter than AJ's.

At the moment, Wallin is on a six-fight winning streak, not taking an L since 2019 against Tyson Fury despite opening a cut above the Gypsy King's right eye. Last September, the Swede took a split decision from Murat Gassiev at Regnum Carla Hotel. Prior to that, Wallin defeated Helaman Olguin on all cards in New Hampshire. That means -- like Joshua -- this will be the southpaw's third bout of 2023.

The boxing odds at FanDuel Sportsbook have Wallin labeled as a +310 underdog in this bout. Still, the lefty has only one less fight on his professional resume compared to Joshua. Come Saturday in Saudi Araba, I'd expect Wallin to operate with confidence.
